as effective a piece of war film propaganda as i have ever seen. eschews focus on the military soldiers fighting germany to focus on the everyday citizens of london, whom the film calls "the real soldiers." in positioning the act of continuing to live life as an act of courage in the face nightly bombing raids, the film succeeds astoundingly in pulling at the heartstrings. i recognize that i am being manipulated, and even still cannot help but be won over. interweaving footage of gunners trying to shoot down german airplanes (ominously invisible in the darkened night sky) with regular people sleeping in bunkers, the film creates an extraordinary tension. the voiceover sometimes helps, but sometimes its cool, emotionless reporting…

It is true that the Nazis will be over again tomorrow night and the night after that. And every night. They will drop thousands of bombs and they will destroy hundreds of buildings and they will kill thousands of people. But a bomb has its limitation: it can only destroy buildings and kill people. It cannot kill the unconquerable spirit and courage of the people.
Rousing and remarkable images of London under seige – the everyday life, the cat rescued from the rubble.

If there is going to be a WW3 the propaganda will be pure shite compared to this because it's just going to be footage of people staring at their phones to avoid making eye contact and checking for updates on twitter.

You know that if americans were subjected to WW2 bombing attacks in their cities today, there would be some who, like the vaccines, wouldn’t go into the bunkers… because of this twisted “my body my choice (not to get vaccinated)” bulls**t. No but in all seriousness, I was surprised that I really enjoyed the short nine minute documentary describing how the people of London were enduring the nightly Nazi bombing attacks. I think my favorite aspect of London Can Take It was the narrator's voice though. I found it really soothing. I think it is an interesting choice by the creators to have a man with an American accent. In addition, I was not expecting to see all the burning…
